In case you don't know, a TLK sighting is a piece of TLK, like a picture or a quote, in a place that doesn't normally have to do with the movie, like on other movies, TV shows, books... stuff like that. On this page you can read sightings of TLK. So far there are only mine. But maybe you've made a few, too! If you have, you can either leave it in the guestbook or send it to me and I will put it up. Even if you send me a whole lot of them or one at a time as you make them, it's OK, because the more sightings the better! Don't worry, I have plenty of time to read them and then put them up.
If you've never made a sighting, keep your eyes and ears open for them. Sighting-making is fun, and it's not very hard to do!
In one of my past science books, there's a picture of a bunch of guys standing in front of a picture of a lion. One is thinking, "lion," and one is thinking, "simba." It was probably a Swahili guy or something like that.
In the movie Chicken Little, the guy is trying to figure out how to start, and he switches it to the opening sunrise scene in TLK, and we hear Lebo M starting Circle of Life. Then he says, "Eh, that was used already," and switches it again.
On one episode of Cyberchase, the one with the skate-off, in the For Real part near the end, Bianca is wandering around the city, and there's a shot of this sign that has the logo and lion face of The Lion King on Broadway! When my brothers and I saw it for the first time, we started yelling, "She should go see The Lion King! She should go see The Lion King!" But she went into an arcade instead.
Once my two little brothers were watching Postcards from Buster and I was on the computer and then the youngest one, Myles, came up to me and told me that there was a stuffed Simba in the kid's room! Later I watched it with them and it just happened to be the same episode and when we saw it, we also saw that it was exactly like the stuffed Simba I have.
At the library, I checked out the July/August 2003 issue of American Girl and on page 12, there's an article about the girl who plays young Nala in The Lion King on Broadway!
(Actually, I checked out the magazine because I knew it was in there. lol.) It even had a picture of the girl and the boy who plays young Simba, and Zazu, and it said, "Simba and Nala talk back to Zazu." I like that part best! The article is called Lion King Dreams.
One time my church and my family and I went to a fellowship time at a nearby park with another church. People were everywhere, talking and playing games and stuff. One of the games they were playing was Catch Phrase, my favorite. So I joined them for one game of it, then I just decided to hang out, so I sat down and started to read the words on the disks to catch Phrase. I was seeing things like Aladdin, Snow White, and Bambi. After a while, one of the disks said The Lion King!
I also saw the word "scar" before that, but I don't think they were talking about the lion.
OK this is not my sighting. It's my brother's sighting. But that's not the point. He got this little Wheel of Fortune game for his birthday this year, and puzzle 50 category was Title, and the puzzle was - what else? - THE LION KING! He pointed it out to me at dinner and said, "For once they have respect for The Lion King." (Even though I personally think it gets a lot of respect, with the tons of fan sites and stuff like that.)
Now, something very popular - but it counts. In Hercules, Hercules is posing for a painting, and he has this lion skin on his head that looks exactly, exactly, EXACTLY like Scar. It even has the scar over the left eye! You can view it here.
In Toy Story, while Andy's family is driving away in a car, the baby is listening to a part of the song "Hakuna Matata"!
