Hi! My name is Melanie. I guess you already knew that. I am a girl with overly thick brown hair, brown eyes, and a lot of chaos in my life. But it's all clearing up now. I'll explain that later.
I come from a big family: a mom, a dad, 7 siblings, and a lot of aunts and uncles and cousins. Four of my siblings are already away from home and one even has a kid. So right now there's only me and 2 of my brothers and Mom and Dad at home. I do not enjoy having a big family because when we have company, they always get into a big discussion about it and they talk for hours (very boring) and sometimes they even laugh about it.
We used to live in New York state, but in January 2006 we moved far away. That's because my dad got a new job as a pastor. He had been searching for a new church to pastor for a little over a year. That's what half of the chaos was about. It started on Halloween 2004, when he had the last service at his own church and closed it down. Mom and Dad told us about the phone call from the church right on the day my brother and I came home from camp!
The other half of the chaos was about me! On September 9, 2005, Mom took us (me, my 2 little brothers and one of my older brothers) to the dentist and we found that I needed orthodontic treatment. I had braces, so that's pretty much over. The next month, on October 12, Mom took me to the doctor for a physical exam and I was diagnosed with severe scoliosis. On November 6, 2006, I had surgery to correct it. When I went to the Mayo Clinic for the first time for a look at my back, I played the shiny black piano in the huge hallway for an hour. I don't play much these days anymore though.

I don't like (my worst pet peeves are in red):

(My ultimate WORST pet peeve ever!!) I'm currently thinking of plans to make them realize how stupid it is.
-when people pressure me to do things!
-when I go to the mall or someplace like that and all the other people stare at me
-when people laugh at me not caring about my feelings (I'm sensitive)
-when my lips get dry!!
-when people smoke (yuck), reject Christ, swear, use God's name in vain, and are mean to other people
-being told that my computer time is up
-flossing
-being yelled at
-being told to go to bed

Favorite music:
Ahh, so much. I like a LOT of Disney music, but I'm not much for the mainstream ones like "A Whole New World" and all that jazz. The songs I like best are more underrated - most people don't even know they exist! Same with a lot of non-Disney music I like. Some selections include "Lullaby For A Stormy Night" by Vienna Teng, "One and Only" by Chesney Hawkes, and "Disneyland" by Kerry Butler. Yeah, I have a very random, unique collection. ^_____________^
Favorite TV shows:
House of Mouse
I LOVE YOU, MICKEY!!!!!!!!!
Drake & Josh
Timon & Pumbaa
Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends
Spongebob Squarepants

How I Became a TLK Fan and a Simbaholic
By Melanie
I had heard about the Lion King a lot before I actually saw it. My little brothers, Marty and Myles, watched it a few times before I even liked it. When I was very young, about 4-6 years old, I would listen to a tape of the Lion King in our dining room with my older siblings Matt and Michele. Then my little brothers actually saw it on a video tape we had taped the movie on long before and became nearly obsessed with it. They would spend a lot of time talking about it and telling me how great it was. I became annoyed with it and made up my mind that I hated it, even though I hadn't seen it (which I now know was very unfair of me). A few days later Marty told me that Pumbaa cuts the cheese in it (in the song Hakuna Matata, as I found out; he hadn't told me where in the movie) so I decided to watch it with them, just to see that. Of course everything was very familiar because of the tape, and I knew all the characters. I regonized Rafiki, Mufasa, Simba, Nala, the hyenas, Timon and Pumbaa, and Scar. I remember that while watching the movie, every time Scar came on, I would get bored and do headstands in the doorway on a pillow (or at least try to) beside the TV. I don't remember what we did when the movie was over, but that night I decided I loved it, for no reason at all (hey, I was nine, okay??) so I suggested we make up imaginary friends from it. I remember I got Nala, Marty got Mufasa and Myles got Simba. At first we spent a lot of time with them, but then we started to forget them. Many years later, on December 21, 2004, my friend came over. He was carrying a large white garbage bag, handed it to me, and said, "Hey, Melanie, I have something for you." I untwisted the twist tie and took out a big stuffed animal of Simba. I exclaimed, "It's Simba! As a... teenager!" Then I realized he had only a little bit of a mane on top of his head, and I asked Ben, "Is he a teenager or a cub?" Ben replied, "He's supposed to be a cub." Of course I loved it. A few minutes later I started playing with him. Then, a few weeks later, when I was in bed with him, when Mom came in, I said, "Simba's so cute." Mom smiled and said, "Oh, I know." I became closer to that stuffed Simba and he seemed to get cuter every day. He's one of my best friends now! I didn't realize he was cute when I watched the original one, but now I know. I have changed a subject in many conversations with friends to Simba. One friend of mine who I talked to about Simba half the time (before we moved) said I really am a Simbaholic. When I told her I consider myself to be one, she said, "Yeah. You are." I don't think I'll ever stop being a Simbaholic. I guess they are because I've been a Simbaholic for so long. The Lion King, when I watched it, actually had some surprises in it. When we had listened to the tape long before, Matt and Michele told me that the reason Timon and Pumbaa were crying at the end of "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" was because Simba's dad, the king, was dead. But later I learned that they were actually crying because they had lost Simba, because Simba had fallen in love with Nala and gone off with her. (Very understandable!) Simba's father had died long before that, anyway. And they didn't know, exactly. The same year I got my stuffed Simba, but in April, we borrowed the video of the Lion King 1 1/2 from some people I don't know. Me, Marty and Myles watched it as soon as we got home. We loved it. Later we watched it again with Matt. We got the DVD a while later.
I started to love the song The Lion Sleeps Tonight. It reminds me of Simba (as a cub, not a teenager or adult) and that's why I love it so much. I guess it's because it has a playful tune that fits Simba. Well, only the "wimowehs" do. But it still sounds great. For a VERY long time, I had never been able to find where I could listen to the whole entire thing by Lebo M, but I'd found samples of it. But on the night of Monday, February 20, 2006, I was searching for it again using Yahoo! Search, and I came across a great website that had downloadable songs from The Lion King and, to my surprise, it even had songs from Rhythm Of The Pride Lands! I didn't see that at first, but I scrolled down more. I saw The Lion Sleeps Tonight! I clicked on Download. My heart started to pound and my stomach got butterflies in it. But as it was loading, I thought to myself, "Now, don't get your hopes up. It's probably a disappointment." I was so anxious and it was taking forever! When the song started, it sounded like a different version that Lebo M had not performed! I was disappointed, but then the familiar music started (it was familiar because of the samples) and I heard Lebo M.'s voice! I thought, "Oh my word! I can't believe this!" I listened to it once and couldn't stop smiling. I found it totally impossible to frown! I even laughed. I went to bed full of energy and happiness. I couldn't wait for the next day to begin so I could listen to it more!
So now I'm a TLKaholic, and a Simbaholic too. I don't think I'll ever change in that area of my personality. No matter how many awesome movies I see (I've seen more Disney masterpieces that I love, such as Enchanted, Bambi, and Mulan), I'll still always love The Lion King, even though lately, I've been going through a lot of other obsessions. First it was Brother Bear, then for a long time I was totally obsessed with Bambi and its sequel (and I have a crush on the Great Prince!), and now my current obsession, is the one and only, MICKEY MOUSE! Seriously! I may be developing a crush on him too. He's sooooo cute!!!
But I am still obsessed with Simba and The Lion King. I need to watch that movie again!!!!!!!
